- Seward Windsong Lodge – Classic, scenic, full-service – Nestled by the Resurrection River only minutes from Kenai Fjords National Park – and still close to Seward and its amenities – Seward Windsong Lodge feels like a classic Alaskan lodge, but with modern comforts. For large, traditional-leaning weddings wanting to blend rustic vibes with in-town convenience, the venue’s three reception spaces, an outdoor ceremony site, plus on-site catering make it a top choice.
- Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge – Remote, coastal, immersive – Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is a unique island venue where pebbly beaches, ancient forests, and ocean views set the mood. Being accessible only by private boat, couples having larger more traditional-style weddings that want a destination experience may find it a good fit. A Private Island Ceremony in the Fjords of Alaska
The layout of the camp allows for both connection and privacy. Getting ready in separate yurts, Jason and Charity shared laughs with their best friends who were helping them each get ready. Then, with nerves–and excitement!-- high, they shared a sweet and fun first look by the dock, with their friends cheering them on.
From the dock at Shearwater Cove, we had options for ceremony spots:
- Hike to the ceremony spot, high on the overlook trail above camp?
- Take a private boat out to a ceremony spot on the beautiful beach at Thumb Cove?
- Maybe vows by the waterfall accessible by boat from camp?
- Or, perhaps a ceremony location surrounded by the gorgeous views on Fox Island?
Hard decisions were made, and Charity, Jason, and their treasured few loaded up the the private boat , which took us out to the sweeping, epic views from the rocky beach of the Spit on Fox Island. A beautiful location chosen to show how special a truly private ceremony experience can be..
The ceremony in this truly unique wedding venue in Seward had the kind of beauty you don’t just see, you feel…
With views for day of misty, lush mountains, the sounds of water on the rocky shore, the wind whispered in nearby trees. There was no one there but us for true, exclusive privacy for exchanges of laughter, and a playful reading from The Old Man and the Sea, borrowed from the camp’s guest library.
Ring exchanges made the experience even more meaningful, as they celebrated their original courthouse wedding into a lasting memory in this beautiful corner of Seward’s wilderness that means so much to them...
After their ceremony, and some easy-going portraits as they explored this little corner of the beach, the couple and their friends toasted with ice-cold Alaska Brewery beers, their laughter carrying across the island.
Unhurried, they enjoyed the time together, before loading back on the boat to head to camp for dinner, card games and relaxation to close the beautiful day. It was an experience that felt both timeless and unrepeatable.

Views of the mountains, lush green foliage & trees, craggy rocks, and the ever present sound of water (both from the Bay, and, running down from the mountains) wash over your senses.
So while, yes, you’re away from it all, you are still surrounded by a wonderful adventure luxe vibe.
And, included, unlimited kayaking straight from the camp offers additional adventures for you and your guests to see and experience even more of Alaska.
For my eloping couples, part of my experience design offering is also weaving in additional fun and beautiful touches to your wedding/lodging, such as adding in twinkle lights and other thoughtful design details creating an even more warm and welcoming environment to your experience.
